How a report screen works

One shell behind 150 reports: the filter panel, the run, and how results are grouped.

There are 150 reports and one report screen. Learn the shell once and every report works the same way; what changes is which filters the report offers and which columns it prints.

Finding a report

Reports are grouped in the menu the way the source system grouped them, and the section is shown as a badge under the report's title when you open it.

  • Parties Reports Menu
  • Air-Lines Sales Reports Menu (Air-Export)
  • K.B. Reports Menu (Air-Export)
  • Air Waybill Stock Reports Menu (Air-Export)
  • SPO-wise Reports Menu
  • Air-Export, Sea-Export, Air-Import and Sea-Import Reports Menus
  • Other Reports Menu
  • Courier
  • Reports (MIS), Reports (Finance) and Payroll(Reports)
Note Faster than the menu: type part of the report name into the page search box on the operations menu bar.

The filter panel

Every report opens with a panel headed Report Options, with Reset and Run Report at its top right. The controls a report offers depend on its family — a statement of account and a trial balance ask for very different things — but the kinds of control are the same throughout.

ControlLooks like
Date rangeTwo dates side by side, each with its own caption — "Give Starting Date" and "Give Ending Date".
Range pairA From and a To box for a code range: accounts, parties, jobs, invoices, SPOs.
SelectA dropdown, usually with a blank first option meaning "any".
Radio pillsA row of chips where exactly one may be chosen — Detail or Summary, for example.
Check pillsA row of chips where several may be chosen.
Date, number, textPlain single-value boxes.
  1. Set the filters you need. The year and station default to your working context.
  2. Press Run Report.
  3. Press Reset to clear everything back to defaults.

Reading the results

The results card names the report and shows the row count. Grouped reports print a group heading, then the rows, then a subtotal, and a grand total across the foot. Money and number columns are right-aligned on tabular figures so they line up.

Note Where a report returns more rows than the screen will show, the card says so — "showing the first N — narrow the filters". The export is the way to get the whole set.
